I have always wanted to see the cherry blossoms in Japan … but the blossoms in Greenwich Park are a great substitute! I took this series of photos on a glorious spring morning in April. The blossoms were late blooming in 2021 but they put on a great display when they did bloom!

American colours

American colours

Taken in Washington, DC in November 2015

This small park in the Georgetown district of Washington hummed with the traffic of the parkway running alongside it. But look up and you were lifted up by the vibrant colours of autumn foliage.

Reaching for the stormy skies

Reaching for the stormy skies

Taken in the UK, in 2009

These branches, stripped bare in the encroaching winter, looked like spindly fingers, reaching up to the stormy skies.

Laden with winter

Taken in BC, Canada, in December 2016

I love how snow can cling to branches after a snowfall. The branches and snow create wonderful patterns together. This particular one caught my eye because of the red bark of the tree.

The lesser-spotted tree

This is one unusual tree! Its spotted bark caught my eye. With the dappled sunlight and markings, it really stood out amongst its neighbours.
